Where and how did you and your partner first cross paths?: Jr and I met at our local church in July 2017.

When did you realise you were head over heels for each other?: When we first met, we were just friends but over time, we started developing feelings towards each other and in November 2017, we decided to give us a try and we started dating... The rest is history, as they say.

How did the proposal go down?: Jr and I got engaged on December 2 2022. What felt like a normal date on the day turned out to be one of the most important days in our lives. Jr decided to take me out to dinner at a local spot in Wellington CBD and then he said that he will meet a friend at Wahine Memorial Park. Little did I know, JR had worked with our family and friends for the proposal and there it was, JR proposed to me as soon as we got to the park!

Where and how did you two decide to take the plunge into wedded bliss?: After we got engaged, we decided to celebrate this wonderful milestone with our closest family and friends. Once everything has settled, we then celebrated this with our wider communities by announcing on our social media accounts. Then, its game on; time to plan the wedding!

Any quirks or shared passions that make your bond extra special (e.g. adrenaline junkies, favourite food, a shared experience, a special place, a song, a hobby)?: Jr and I share a passion for shared experiences such as watching movies, going for walks and exploring food spots around the city - you can classify us as a very chilled-out couple. Since Jr and I met in the church, we both decided to have a church wedding. Having a church wedding is very special to us because we both share the same faith and values.

What vibes were you going for on your big day? Was it all about rustic charm or modern elegance?: The vibe that we were going for is a classic and timeless wedding, with some Filipino cultural wedding traditions - as we are both of Filipino descent. We went with minimal designs to keep with the timeless wedding. With our reception, we went with a very balanced vibe of a cozy gathering but some aspects of party vibes as well.

What were your must-haves when it came to planning the big day?: One of our must-haves was a curtain that I hired for the big reveal when I walked down the aisle. It has always been my dream to have a big reveal and surprise everyone with my dress. But other than that my decorations were kept minimal with candles and flowers. Our wedding sign was made from my mirror and we printed out vinyl stickers which made it fun for our guests to also take a selfie.

What hurdles did you face while planning your dream day?: Talking to a lot of vendors and getting quotes from them can become very overwhelming. We struggled to keep on top of the vendors we have talked to and to decide who to go with was a hard decision.

Lets rewind and relive the magic! What were the standout moments from your wedding day?: I think the standout of our wedding was our reception entrance when JR and I walked into the WWE theme of DX - Jr's favorite WWE tag team of all time. It stood as it was different from a usual sweet reception entrance. A lot of our guests found our entrance very unique and funny, especially those who were also a WWE fan when they were little. It also introduced a bit of Jr's personality to add to our special day.

What is the best investment you made for your wedding day?: The best investment we made is the church venue. As our decorations and flowers were classic and minimalist. The ambiance of the church made it more beautiful and along the lines of our theme which was classic, timeless, and simple.

Got any sage advice for lovebirds knee-deep in wedding planning chaos?: Don't focus too much on the wedding day but also look forward to the marriage itself. On the day of the wedding, some things can go wrong. But don't let those things get to you, just smile and enjoy every bit of the day as time does fly on your wedding day.
