A Relaxed Boho Beach Wedding

“We first met thanks to a close mutual friend of ours. Brandyn was scrolling through the likes on a photo of said mutual friend and himself and somehow came across my page. He ended up going way back and started liking very, very, very old photos of mine, which obviously caught my attention. The rest is history!”

“Brandyn definitely made me work for the ring on the day of the proposal. Every year, my family would do summer holidays at our favourite spot in Hawke's Bay called Te Awanga. Brandyn and I planned a summer road trip and stopped on the way there before heading further north. There's an awesome walk out Te Awanga around Cape Kidnappers, approximately 20 km. So we set out on the walk, and at the halfway point, Brandyn asked to stop for a wee picnic before turning around to come back. We had a box of Favourites with us, and Brandyn said, "Close your eyes. I bet you can't pick what chocolate favourite I'll pick out." I opened my eyes, and he was down on one knee with the ring box open. Just as he finished asking the big question, it started pouring down, which didn't make for the most thrilling walk back, but we were both beaming with excitement!”

“The wedding we had planned in our minds was nowhere close to what we got on the day - but it couldn't have turned out any better. We both had pictured a big, relaxed, sunny beach picnic-style wedding day in front of Kapiti Island, but the weather had other plans for us.

When we realised the weather definitely wasn't going to change from the severe rain warning, the dual-purpose ceremony space/reception space that Lyndal had to reconfigure at short notice ended up working out better than we could ever have imagined. It made our wedding feel more inclusive due to bringing all our guests together in the one large area of the larger marquee that we ended up having to hire at the last minute. We know it was a challenge as Lyndal had to work with mismatched tables and chairs from our previous fine weather plan as they'd already been delivered to the venue, but she made it work.”

“Brandyn and I had a budget that we needed to stick to. We were unsure of how much involving a stylist/designer/event organiser would end up costing, so this was always in the back of our minds as to whether it was going to be within our budget. We had a basic idea of what we wanted our special day to feel like and look like, so prior to meeting with Lyndal, we were unsure whether she would like our initial ideas or try to sway us into something else.

After our first meeting, we soon realised that she wanted nothing more than our day to be what we wished for and was prepared to do whatever it took to make it happen.”

“We were excited to use Lyndal as we had heard good feedback from a couple of clients where she’d previously styled their weddings. Lyndal made us feel comfortable; she was supereasy to work with, and nothing ever seemed to be a problem. She thought of details and ideas we hadn’t even thought of to bring our beach-themed wedding to life. We loved the mood board she put together. It gave us a great idea of how our day could look, as some concepts were hard to imagine before seeing it all come together.”
